Ballasts
The GE ballast insulation system is of such high quality that it earns a UL Class N rating, while most other manufacturers earn only a UL Class H rating. We use bobbin-wound ballasts to yield consistent winding spacing, point-to-point electrical connections rather than less reliable methods, and only oil-filled self-protecting capacitors.

Housing
Rugged, heavy-duty, die-cast aluminum housings resist corrosive degradation and retain dimensional stability year after year. Electrophoretically- applied acrylic thermoset paint further protects the luminaire—inside and out—from oxidation.

Optics
Patented ALGLAS® finish applied to reflectors offers the highest degree of staining and corrosion protection in the industry. Couple that with our patented charcoal wafer, offering a one-half acre area of filtering surface, which protects from degrading gaseous and particulate intrusion.

Testing
GE Lighting Systems in-house, state-of-the-art testing facility assures that our fixtures pass the toughest vibration, corrosion resistance, thermal, and dust-and-water intrusion testing.

Criterion™ Series: GE Quality

GE Lighting Systems Manufacturing

backBack to Previous

Quality leadership is evident in every luminaire we build at GE Lighting Systems. Delivering quality products, however, meets only one of several key CTQ requirements. "Outside-In" thinking combined with Six Sigma tools drives us to invest in intellectual and capital resources to improve all areas of the organization. Our goal is nothing less than Six Sigma quality! Stated another way, our goal is fewer than 3.4 defects per one million opportunities.

Thermal Analysis of Luminaire

Criterion™ Luminaire housings were designed with extensive structural and thermal finite element analysis to optimize the design and to result in many years of trouble-free operation.
